Dear EXCEL Student and Parent:
EXCEL students are expected to observe the following Code of Conduct while enrolled in this program and on the Sonoma State University Campus:
Standards of Conduct:
Students asked to leave for disciplinary reasons will forfeit all tuition and fees.
Phones/Electronics: No cell phone or smart phone usage is allowed during class time except in the case of emergency. No video or electronic game usage is allowed during class time unless it is part of the curriculum. During lunch bunch or classroom breaks, phones and/or electronics may be taken away by an EXCEL staff or instructor if inappropriate material is being accessed/viewed by student(s). Parents will be notified and given said phone or electronics back at pick up.
Liability: In some classes students work with sensitive equipment in class (i.e., computers, microscopes, potter's wheel, or other equipment), and must follow directions and safety rules to prevent accidents. Parents are responsible for costs to repair any damages to the equipment that is caused by inappropriate or reckless behavior.
Student: I have read the Code of Conduct and I agree to adhere to the Code while I am a student in the EXCEL for Youth Program at SSU. I understand that if I do not follow the Code, there may be disciplinary actions (i.e., warning from instructor, program coordinator, or staff; temporary removal from class; phone call to the parent/guardian; or dismissal from program).
Parent: I have read and discussed the Code of Conduct with my child. I understand that if my child does not follow the Code of Conduct, he or she may be disciplined in the manner described above.
